Barburrito launch their new brand

Barburrito launch their new brandAfter creating the initial logo and brand for the debut restaurant in Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester, 2 years ago, Mark, our Creative Director, was asked to provide the graphic design for the new flagship restaurant at the Trafford Centre, Manchester, and in doing this would be setting the branding for all future units.

We worked closely with Barburrito and the architects during the early planning phase to make sure marketing possibilities were understood early on.

From the signage to the loyalty cards, we created a very distinctive brand. We have revised and introduced a new graphic look which has become more rustic and vibrant, and price points are now always top priority. A red painted texture plays a key part of the new brand, and is used as the background for a self-service drinks area which is a fundamental and prominent part of the interior layout. Customers can see quotes from food critics and the food awards that have been gloriously won by Barburrito. A more robust and flawed style of typography was introduced, giving a very honest, human quality to the graphics.

An 8m-long mural of a Mexican street scene was created in which each character and building were placed into the scene digitally. A mixture of brush strokes, textures and photography were used to create a mural that is truly unique in both style and subject.

In addition, we created a 7m x 3m section of digital wallpaper for the seating area. Stock photography was laboured over for weeks to create a digital montage that epitomises the ethos of Barburrito. Great care was taken to create a piece that looks hand rendered and rustic.

In fact, the artwork was so successful that it has been entered for a number of art and graphic competitions (watch this space).

Tray liners were created to inform customers of promotions and to request feedback, menu boards were planned to perfection, emails were designed to drum up Trafford Centre staff interest, we even designed a bespoke 5ft high branded LCD stand which runs a series of animated promotions to passing shoppers.

With a successful second store now open and the positive reviews coming in thick and fast, Barburrito are positioned for a successful roll-out nation wide. Go and see for yourself, tell them Bourn Design sent you, you never know, you may even get a discount!
